Cookie notice

This page is the document: every item that could be stored on your device, what it would be for, how long it would last and whether it would need your permission. A consent banner is a different thing — the way consent is collected at the moment it is needed — and this site does not show one, because today there is nothing to consent to.

Today, this site stores nothing on your device

No analytics, no advertising, no fingerprinting, no social embeds. Your language is in the address — /en/, /fr/, /es/ — and not in a cookie, which is also why you can bookmark or send someone a page in a given language and have it arrive that way.

That means there is nothing to consent to yet, and no banner to dismiss. If it stops being true, this page changes first and the banner appears at the same time. It will never be the other way round.

Rule of thumb, and it is the law's own: storing or reading anything on your device needs your prior consent unless it is strictly necessary to deliver what you asked for (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, as read by the European Data Protection Board's Guidelines 2/2023). That rule is not about cookies specifically. It covers local storage, pixels, tracking links and device fingerprinting just the same.

Everything that can be stored, and on what footing

None of these is set today. They are listed so you know in advance what would be stored if measurement were ever introduced: the first would be strictly necessary and set only once you had made a choice; the others would need your consent and would do nothing until you gave it.

Advert click identifiers are not stored on your device

If you arrive from an advert, the link may carry an identifier (gclid or wbraid) in the address. Today we do not keep it. If advertising measurement is ever introduced and you accept advertising cookies, we would keep that identifier with your enquiry so we could tell which click led to a real conversation. It would sit in our records, not on your device, and the privacy notice covers it as part of the enquiry.

Who the third parties are, and what that means

For the measurement and advertising items, if they were ever used, Google would be an independent controller: it sets its own purposes for that data and answers for them under its own notices. We would not be instructing it and we would not shelter our own use of it under its contracts. Our basis for asking you would be our own — your consent — and that is also why accepting these cookies would mean data about your visit leaves your country.

WhatsApp is reached through an ordinary link. Nothing from Meta is embedded here, so loading this page tells Meta nothing; opening a conversation, on the other hand, happens on Meta's infrastructure under Meta's terms.

Changing your mind

If a banner is ever introduced, a cookie settings link in the footer of every page will reopen the choice, and withdrawing will take the same one click as accepting. Nothing on this site will be blocked, degraded or nagged at you for refusing.

Withdrawal would apply from the moment you made it. Data already sent to an independent controller is governed by that controller’s own tools, and we will point you to them if you ask.

Your browser can also block or delete storage by site, which works whatever we do. The privacy notice explains the rest of what we hold and how to have it deleted.
