Accessibility statement

We want everyone who needs to deal with us to be able to use this site, whatever device or assistive technology they rely on. This statement says how far we have got, how we check it and what we know is not right yet.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page and in every language of the site, including the right-to-left layout in Arabic.

The site has not been audited by an independent party, so we do not claim full conformance. Our own assessment is that it is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA: some parts may not yet fully meet the standard, and the ones we know of are listed below.

How it is checked

Automated checks run every time the site is built, and a failure stops the build rather than producing a warning. They check that:

  • every page has exactly one main heading and declares its language;
  • every animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion;
  • keyboard focus is visible on everything that can receive it;
  • every pair of text and background colours in the design reaches a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1;

A browser test also opens every page at desktop and phone widths and checks that nothing scrolls sideways, that images load and that no control is smaller than 24 by 24 pixels. Changes are also reviewed by hand before they are published, including use with the keyboard alone, narrow screens and the right-to-left Arabic layout.

Known limitations

These are the issues we know about. We are working on them, and this list changes when they are fixed.

  • Some photographs on the site are provisional while the final images are produced. Their text alternatives describe what is shown today and will be reviewed when the images are replaced.
  • The tables in the legal documents scroll sideways on narrow screens. They can be reached and scrolled with the keyboard, but they are less comfortable to read on a phone than on a wider screen.
  • The site has not yet been tested by people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers. Until it has, there may be barriers our checks do not catch.
  • Links to WhatsApp and to email open applications outside this site, whose accessibility we do not control.

Reporting a barrier

If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us. Write to info@tpcaptain.com with the word accessibility, the address of the page and what got in the way. A person reads it, and if we cannot fix the problem quickly we will get you the information in another way.
